The other option is one that I have witnessed in my own life and that of others.  It is that proverbial “narrow way”.  “Small is the gate and narrow the path that leads to life’, Matthew 7:14.  That sounds strait-laced and not much fun, doesn’t it?  Let me present three examples.  Two are my stepfather and my ex-father-in-law.  They followed the guidelines set out for the Christian life (the narrow way).  Both were great examples of people at peace.  The third, is my own life. Until I separated from my first wife, I knew no real anguish and I was not even following God’s rules to perfection. I was amazed, however, at the chaos unleashed when I initiated my separation and divorce.  I not only threw my own life into chaos; I created chaos my ex-wife and my for my children. It was not long until I longed for normalcy. But it had been destroyed.

So, what about that “narrow way?” It is followed by committing yourself to Christianity.  Once I began reading and re-reading the Bible, I began to see what the Christian life required of me and, at the same time, the oneness with God that it could offer.  We were created to have a direct and interactive relationship with our creator. That experience is something that cannot be explained until you have experienced it.
